FAQ

Most Common Questions

It typically takes 2-4 weeks from the date that you are ready to have your building installed. If your order is finalized prior to you being ready, the 2-4 week window instead begins when you are ready to take the delivery of your building. Keep it in mind that during certain times of the year (Summer and early Fall), delivery windows may become slightly longer based on customer demand and the jobs we have in our pipeline.

Our measurements for buildings are given in Width x Length x Height.

As an example, an 18’ x 21’ x 6’ building’s base frame size is 18’ x 20’ x 6’. The reason the base frame’s length is smaller is because  the roof metal overhangs 6” on each end – so, the bottom base rail frame dimension ends up needing to be one foot shorter than the roof. The width of our buildings is measured from the outside of the baserail to the other outside of the baserail.

When planning for your slab, keep in mind that you should pour them cement exact to width, and 1’ shorter than the roof. There is an exception in Florida, where the cement should be ¾” wider than the width and 1’ shorter than the roof.

The highest side height that we offer is 14′.

To make sure that the installation is complete properly, it’s very important for your site to be level.
4’ braces are needed when the side height is 8’ or taller on all sizes of open carports. They are not necessarily required on enclosed buildings but we would strongly advise getting them.

In most cases, yes. Please note that a service charge of at least $50 will be needed on all return trips.  Some other important notes:

– We will only make additions to buildings that we ourselves have sold.

– Adding gable ends and walk-in doors on the side wall necessitates that the unit be at least 7′ tall. Adding garage doors requires that the unit be at least 1’ taller than the garage door height.

We use four types of anchors. These anchors are:

  1. For non-certified ground/asphalt installations, 32” rebar anchors (this is our standard ground anchor for all non-certified units.)
  2. For ground/asphalt installations that are certified, double helix mobile home anchors are used. We also always recommend using these anchors on non-certified ground installations.
  3. Lag bolts for wood installations; please bear in mind that wood installations cannot be certified.
We manufacture buildings from 12’ to 40’ wide, and other custom structures up to 68’ wide.

General Questions

Yes, providing that you are within our typical service radius (and that the installation site is level).

Our normal service area includes the states of Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

We offer three different styles of roof:

  1. Regular style units which have rounded corners and are considered the “basic” tier of carport designs.
  2. Boxed Eave units, designed with an “A” frame roof truss as well as horizontal roof panels. An upgrade to Boxed Eave style is both cost-effective and attractive.
  3. Vertical Roof units are designed with an “A” frame roof truss and vertical roof panels. Hat channel runs the length of the unit to cross brace the roof, which provides a mounting point for roof panels.

Absolutely! For example, you may need a unit that is 23′ wide x 24′ long. We will be happy to make it that size.

No! You’re welcome may choose any of our 13 colors. You may choose a single color for the roof, a different color for the trim, a different color for the sides, and (if a gable end is requested), then a different color for it at no extra charge.=

Yes, we’re happy to sell drop-off units. All materials will be delivered to your job site. Keep in mind that no assembly instructions are provided. We highly recommend that you work with professional contractors.

Federal and state governments are tax exempt. However, you must pay sales tax, unless you reside in a tax-free state or can provide a copy of your agricultural (or sales tax exemption).

These are some of the factors that could contribute to the overall cost of your building:

  • Units installed over an existing structure, or on top of an obstruction.
  • Note that trip charges will apply for installations outside of normal service radius, and could also apply toward outer edges of our service area.
  • Installation on and unlevel work site.
  • Installation on a non-floating boat dock; please note that we do not install units on floating docks.
  • Installation on an elevated retaining wall (fees are estimated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Any materials that have to be transported by foot 50 feet or more to the installation site.

14 gauge units come with a 30-day limited workmanship warranty. 12 gauge carports come with a 20-year warranty against rust through on the frame, assuming normal care and maintenance and the 30-day limited workmanship warranty. These are the only warranties, with no others stated or implied. Note that additions, modifications, and alterations void all warranties

14 gauge galvanized steel framing measures 2 1/2″x 2 1/2″; 12 gauge galvanized steel framing measures 2 1/4″x 2 1/4″.

They are both made of galvanized steel. However, the wall thickness of the 12 gauge framing is 0.03″ thicker.

29 gauge sheet metal is standard for most states except Florida. Outside of Florida, customers can upgrade to 26 gauge sheet metal for an additional fee.

Panels are 3′ (three feet) wide.

We sell units in any length.

You might need a permit, depending on your state regulations, local zoning laws, and/or rural jurisdiction. Customers are responsible for their own permits.

No, as a policy we will not attach our steel structures to other structures.

Construction Questions

Remove anything out of the way that would impede the progress of the installation. Clearly mark the four corners of the carport location and level the site.

For all units, the roof pitch is approximately 3:12.

Yes, for non-certified units only. Additional fees may apply.

We will only install on a stationary dock. We will not under any circumstances install a carport on a floating boat dock. We must be able to unload the truck and trailer near the boat dock without carrying materials over 50 feet or up/down steps. There must be a 3’ unobstructed access on all sides to the dock.

The clearance is approximately the 3″ less than the side height.

Anchoring Questions

On non-certified units, 32″ long rebar anchors are inserted through pre-drilled holes in the base rail. The anchors are driven into the ground with a sledgehammer for a secure hold. On certified units, double helix mobile home anchors are augured into ground and a bolt is inserted through pre-drilled holes in the side of the base-rail. The bolt is secured with a nut. Mobile home anchors are an optional upgrade for non-certified ground installations and they are always recommended.

Holes are drilled into your concrete slab. Wedge anchors are inserted through pre-drilled holes in the base rail of your unit, into the holes in the concrete and fastened for a secure hold.

For non-certified units, 32″ long rebar anchors are inserted through pre-drilled holes in the base rail. A small hole is made in your asphalt and the anchor is driven into the ground with a sledgehammer into the asphalt. For certified units, we must install double helix mobile home anchors that are augured into ground.

Lag bolts are inserted through pre-drilled holes in the carport base rails and screwed down into the wood surface for a secure hold.
